Here's what our team is going to do:
1. Try to get diaper bag giveaways from formula companies out of our hospitals and give nursing support bags instead.
2. Create a mother-friendly environment at work by finding/converting pumping places in every building, forming a network of breastfeeding supporters throughout campus, and changing current policies and practices that are not mother friendly.
3. Encourage local businesses to post the International Breastfeeding Logo (the blue and white picture on the left) in their windows. You can reproduce this image copyright free!
We won't get this all completed by WBW 2008--especially with the resistance we're sure to face in the hospital--but we hope to have built some awareness of our goals and made some headway by then. If you're doing anything to promote breastfeeding in your workplace or community, I'd love to hear about it.
